#29 – A Table Fit for a King
1 Corinthians 11:23-34
1. The description of the table (23-24, 25b-26)
A. It involves a depiction (23-24, 26)
Exodus 12:14 – “Now this day will be a memorial to you, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations you are to celebrate it as a permanent ordinance.”
Luke 22:16 – “I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”
B. It includes a demand (25b)
John MacArthur – “This do in remembrance of Me” is a command from the lips of our Lord Himself. Sharing in the Lord’s Supper is therefore not an option for believers. We must have (it) on a regular basis if we are to be faithful to the Lord who bought us through the act we are called to remember. Not to partake of the Lord’s Supper is disobedience and a sin.

A. The invitation to this table (25a)
John MacArthur – “Whether a person wants and receives the benefit of that sacrifice is his choice but Jesus made it and offers it for every person.”
John 6:51 – “I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 – Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God…Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
